Basic characteristics
All above mentioned versions of MLA-S (RT/R) represent the magnetic loop antennas with the remote tuning and the integrating rotator. Both functions, remote tuning of the loop and also antenna rotating are solved via one supply coaxial cable. That is why the antenna does not need another supply cable.
The remote antenna tuning and antenna rotating is resolved by a special control unit CB4M DUO which is controlled by the microprocessor. More detailed description please see in CB4M DUO manual. The control unit is included in a delivery package of the loop antenna. The control unit is supplied by 12 V DC. It is forbidden to use the same power supply to feed TRX and together CB4M. Not respecting of this leads to non-functionality of the system but also to a damage of CB4M. It is not recommended to feed CB4M by the standard feeders/adapters of 12 V impulse type because the most of them causing strong QRM. Especially on the frequency lower bands. Because of described reasons is feeding of CB4M solved by a battery pack with charging ACU. This battery pack is included in the delivery. Specially adjusted tripod with higher stability for the tripod fastening of MLA-S (RT/R) is in both versions (standard and light) included in the delivery.
The difference between the standard and the light version is a minimum lowering of the efficiency of the light version but the efficiency difference is not significant. The advantage of the standard version except a small difference of the high-frequency efficiency is its bigger robustness.
None of our offered MLA-S (RT/R) antennas are designed as fully weather-proof permanent base antennas. Our standard versions are designed for use in locations shielded from rain, temporary or portable operations.
